Palisades Park, NJ - The CMSV baseball team returned to the field Sunday afternoon to face off against the Maccabees of Yeshiva University. The Dolphins didn't fail to impress as they dominated the Maccabees in both matchups, defeating them 15-0 and 14-0 to complete the four-game sweep. The Dolphins continued their hot streak at the plate as they scored a total of 71 runs in their four-game series against the Maccabees.
The Dolphins started off strong once again at the plate. Senior
Matt Albert (2-2, 2 RBI), junior
Jake Blinstrub (4-4, 5 RBI) and freshman
Joey DiNorcia (3-3, 1 RBI) were all perfect at the plate as they led the Dolphins in the hitting department.
A single from senior
Mike Castiglia and a double by DiNorcia would set up the final two runs for Blinstrub as he singled to bring home both runners.
The new CMSV baseball career home run leader
Michael Grisanti wouldn't hit any long bombs, but would hit a triple and bring home three Dolphins in the game.
Amir Nitowski would get the start on the mound for the Dolphins and would strikeout eight Maccabee batters while only giving up six hits in his four innings pitched. Senior
Pedro Fortoso and freshman
Ricky Salas would relieve Nitowski and hold the Maccabees to zero hits. Fortoso struck out five of the six batters he faced and Salas would close the game out for the Dolphins striking out one of the three batters he faced.
The Dolphins scored at least two runs in every inning except the seventh, but would close out the Maccabees in dominant fashion as they ended with eighteen hits in the game.
The same would go for the second game of the doubleheader as the Dolphins jumped out to an early lead on the Maccabees, and continued to dominate the entire game.
Senior
Isidoros Bartziokas (2-3, 1 RBI) and sophomore
Jake Pierre (3-4, 2 RBI) would lead the Dolphins at the plate in the second game of the double header.
The Dolphin pitching and defense would hold extremely strong as they only allowed two hits. Sophomore
Connor Pietrowski would get the start for the Dolphins and strikeout two of the batters he faced in his three innings of pitching. Junior
Humberto Vela would come in for relief and not allow any hits in two innings. Lefty
John Freeman would close the game for the Dolphins as he only allowed one hit in two innings.
Similar to the first game, the Dolphins scored in every inning except the seventh, and finished the game with 12 hits.
The Dolphins look to continue their hot play against the Privateers of Maritime College in a doubleheader on April 21.
