Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Dolphins Keep Pace In First Half, Ultimately Fall To Maccabees

New York, NY - The men's basketball team traveled to the Max Stern Athletic Center on Tuesday evening, with the tall task of facing off against Skyline Conference rival and #2 ranked Yeshiva University in the first conference action of the season. Despite an impressive first half from the Dolphins, the Maccabees were too much to overcome, with CMSV losing by the score of 81-49.

After falling into a 9-0 hole to start the contest, the Dolphins battled valiantly, keeping pace with the high-powered Macs. At the 12 minute mark, the Dolphins went on a nine point run of their own, which was capped off by a long distance three from Aaron Darab to bring CMSV within one. The Dolphins trailed by three going into halftime after shooting 45% from the floor, including knocking down five of 10 three point attempts, while also causing the Maccabees to turn the ball over a handful of times.

The second half, however, was a different story, as Yeshiva showed why they're one of the top teams in the nation.

James Mooney's squad went with a different lineup on Tuesday which helped ignite the offense. Darab received the first start of his career and led the team with 11 points while shooting three of five from beyond the arc. Junior Dan Porcic finished with eight points and eight rebounds while Haven Smith, Jeremiah Simmons and Kelvin Turner-Harris had six points apiece. Shakirro Samuels led the team in both assists and steals.

The Dolphins have a tall task up next but in the form of an exhibition game, as they take on Division I Columbia University this coming Saturday.
