Riverdale, NY - The College of Mount Saint Vincent's men's basketball team returned to the Peter Jay Sharp Center floor for the first time in nearly two years and made it worth it for the packed house of fans, as the Dolphins dominated the 40 minutes of action, en route to a 104-70 victory over Hunter College. That's the Dolphins' first win of the 2021 season, bringing their overall record to 1-1.
After the Dolphins and Hawks were tied up at six apiece, it was all CMSV from there until the final whistle. The first half saw the Dolphins' lead swell to 23 points at one point, with performances from
Dan Porcic and
Kalos Evans highlighting the action.
The second half saw continued dominance from the Dolphins' end.
James Mooney's squad was able to overcome turnovers and mental errors by pouring on points, as all but three Dolphins finished in the scoring column. As a whole, CMSV led in all major statistical categories, including points in the paint, points of turnovers and bench points, among others.
Porcic, a junior transfer playing in his first game on his new home court, registered the team's only double-double of the evening, leading the team in both points (17) and rebounds (14). Evans (13 points) and newcomber
Adrian Rraci (11 points) were the other two Dolphin in double figures, while
Sean Goodwin,
Dorian Robinson,
Jeremiah Simmons,
Dillon Hod, Shakkiro Samuels and
Elijah McKenzie all had seven or more points. Porcic also led the way with five assists, while Evans, Robinson, McKenzie and
Aaron Darab had two steals apiece.
The next test for the Dolphins comes in the form of SUNY Delhi. CMSV will travel upstate this coming Friday and will look to escape with the win.
