Bronxville, NY - The Sarah Lawrence Gryphons tested the CMSV Dolphins late in Monday's matchup, but the women's volleyball team was able to hold the comeback off, winning the final set 15-11. The Dolphins improved their conference record to 4-4 after the contest, putting the team right behind Mount Saint Mary College for the final spot in the Skyline Conference playoffs.
Three seniors each posted double digit kills on Monday, including
Samantha Schroeder (16),
Rianna Rivera (12) and
Lindsay DeBoer (12).
Madison Gale stood out amongst the competition, as she collected eight kills while also handing out 35 assists, a game high. Freshman
Lydia Aryee had her coming out party against the Gryphons, with eight kills being a career high in her young career. Rivera led the way with four blocks for the Dolphins, while Schroeder did her part on defense with 28 digs.
After taking the first two sets, Sarah Lawrence stormed back in the next two. Fortunately for the Dolphins, a collective effort from Schroeder, Gale, Aryee, Rivera and
Melanieann Broderick put the Gryphons away for good.
The next task for the Dolphins is the Bears of St. Joseph's College-Brooklyn, who will come to Riverdale on Tuesday in yet another Skyline matchup. Stay tuned to CMSVAthletics.com for the action.
