Dolphins Down Rams As Fantastic Season Rolls On

Riverdale, NY - The Dolphins continued their four game win streak this afternoon, as they topped Farmingdale 2-1 down at Marillac Field. The crowd was out today as CMSV held their homecoming game, giving the Dolphins on the field a much needed energy boost.

The game started just as was previously anticipated. Both teams were flying up and down the pitch, creating a couple of chances each. The Dolphins back line composed of Dennis Andino, Fernando Guzman and Isaac Tamer kept the team in the game after making spectacular tackle after tackle. Coach Mattera made a couple of substitutions throughout the game, with Tristan Arechiga and Lukas Cunha coming into the game and giving the Dolphins a well needed spark.

The game changed with seven minutes left in the half when Dolphins defender Andino picked up a red card after stopping a Farmingdale counter attack. The Dolphins did not stop their pressure there as they continued to push for the opening goal. In the 41st minute, the Dolphins put together a fluid counter attack when Ruben Collazos showed his skills by faking out the defender and keeper before sliding the ball across the six yard box where Carlos Romero was ready to put the chance away. The Dolphins controlled the rest of the half and finished it out with a one goal lead.

CMSV continued the pressure starting off the second half. They possessed the ball very well despite being down one man. Keeper Joel Luna shined in the second half, making all the right decisions and keeping the Dolphins' defense in check. In the 73rd minute, Romero produced another moment of magic after Luciano Corelli teed him up 12 yards away from goal. Romero's second goal of the game gave his team some breathing room down the stretch.

The Dolphins stayed organized up until the 79th minute, when Farmingdale scored from a penalty kick. The closing minutes of the game was nerve wrecking for the Dolphins, but they managed to hold on while the crowd roared in the background.

The Dolphins will be back in action on Wednesday as visitors St Joe's Long Island travel to Marillac Field. Catch all the action at CMSVAtheltics.com or on Instagram and Twitter @CMSVAtheltics.
