Dolphins Dominate On Marillac Field For Second Straight Game, Down Privateers

Riverdale, NY - The Dolphins picked up another Skyline Conference win, this time against Maritime this afternoon by a score of 9-0. The Dolphins came out strong and were in control for the full 90 minutes of play.

CMSV started the game strong, possessing the ball and moving the back line of the Mariners all over the field. It didn't take too long for the Dolphins to find the back of the net. The Dolphins opened the scoring when Cristina Britton dribbled past a sliding defender and finished past the keeper into the side netting in the third minute of the game. The second goal came in the 17th minute, as Hannah Eschmann put in a through ball over the top of the defense, meeting a striding Britton who dribbled past the keeper and doubled her tally on the day.

The Dolphins scored again in the 30th minute when Alicia Rodriguez dribbled past the defense and put in a beautiful cross to the back post, where Emily McCarthy was waiting to finish the chance. In the 42nd minute Christine Laskowski slid in McCarthy to finish past the keeper for her second and the Dolphins' fourth of the half. CMSV finished the half outshooting Maritime 12-1 and shots on target 5-1.

The Dolphins picked up in the second half where they left off in the first half, as McCarthy finished off her hat trick after a beautiful finish across goal into the bottom corner assist coming from Rielly Leedholm. McCarthy scored once again five minutes later as Leedholm slipped in another beautiful through ball. Leedholm then scored the Dolphins' seventh goal of the afternoon as Amanda Cotroneo found Leedholm in a crowd of Mariners.

The work was far from over, as Leedholm skipped past two defenders and eventually the keeper to slot it into the open net. The Dolphins scored their eighth goal in the 75th minute when Lilli Marin passed to Rodriguez and she slipped past two defenders and finished into the bottom corner. Marin added one of her own with six minutes left in the game as she caught the keeper off her line and put a powerful strike into the bottom corner from 25 yards out.

The Dolphins will be back in action on Sunday, October 17 for their senior game against Yeshiva University. All the action starts at 1 PM. Be sure to catch up on all your Dolphins athletics action at CMSVAthletics.com or on  Instagram or Twitter @CMSVAthletics.
