Riverdale, NY - The Dolphins came to play in their senior game, defeating visitors Yeshiva 14-1 down at Marillac Field.
The Dolphins started off on the front foot this afternoon. They controlled the ball well and dictated the run of play. The offense was firing on all cylinders, as they scored nine in the first half.
The opening goal came in the fifth minute when
Alicia Rodriguez slipped on a beautiful cross to
find the team's leading scorer
Emily McCarthy.
The second goal came in the 10th minute when McCarthy and
Cristina Britton combined for a one-two on the outside of the box to set up
Christine Laskowski inside of 12 yards where she finished the ball past the keeper.
Amanda Cotroneo scored goals number three and four with the fourth being a magnificent curler from outside the box. Rodriguez scored goal number five with McCarthy scoring number six.
Veronica Sevivas scored her first goal of the season followed by
Hannah Eschmann and Lauren
Vetoulis finding the back of the net before the end of the first half.
The second half performance was just as brilliant from the Dolphins, as they continued to control
the game outright. Rodriguez scored two more goals bringing her tally on the day to three, followed by another goal by Sevivas and two more goals from McCarthy. The Dolphins finished their senior day in style as all four seniors were able to walk off the field together and receive a standing ovation.
The ladies will be back in action on Tuesday, October 19 when they visit Long Island to take
on St. Joe's. Catch up with all the action on the athletics website and social media.
