Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Dolphins Score Twice in Final Minutes, Knock Off #7 NYU

Bronx, NY - The fantastic run for the CMSV men's soccer program continued on Tuesday night, as the Dolphins toppled seventh ranked New York University in a non-conference matchup at Gaelic Park. The tremendous victory now puts the Dolphins at 8-1-2 on the year, including a 5-1-1 mark against the conference.

In what has become a theme for CMSV, goaltender Joel Luna had a fantastic first half performance for the Dolphins. The sophomore from San Diego, California allowed just one goal while registering five saves. But the game wouldn't have had the same result if it wasn't for Erick Pantoja, who got his second taste of college action and made it count. The sophomore tallied five saves, shutting out a strong Violets offense in the second half.

The defense, led by Luciano Cirelli, Antonio Padilla, Isaac Tamer and Fernando Guzman had another strong showing too, as they stifled NYU in the second half, allowing just 10 total shots.

Junior transfer Ian Lamas stole the show for the Dolphins after his performance on the offensive side of things. The first-year Dolphin converted a beautiful floater after an impressive pass from teammate Santiago Ferrer to knot things up at one with less than 10 minutes to go in the game. Less than three minutes later, Lamas floated a ball just pass midfield that sailed over the jumping goaltender to give CMSV the late lead.

Winners of three straight, the Dolphins are set to host Farmingdale State in an epic Skyline Conference showdown this homecoming weekend. Kickoff starts at 1 PM down at Marillac Field.
