Brooklyn, NY - The Dolphins continued their winning ways this past Saturday after they held off St. Joseph's College-Brooklyn for yet another Skyline Conference victory by the score of 2-0. The men's soccer team is fully entrenched in third in the conference with their 7-1-2 overall record.
Despite a strong effort from the Bears offense - they led the game in both shots and corner kicks - the Dolphins' defense, led by
Luciano Cirelli,
Dennis Andino and
Isaac Tamer, once again displayed a both physical and tactical game plan.
Joel Luna was a force in net, as the sophomore saved all three shots he faced in the contest.
Familar faces led the way on the offensive end. Junior
Santiago Ferrer converted an impressive shot off a strong pass from classmate
Ian Lamas to put the Dolphins up by one. Former Skyline Conference Rookie of the Week
Carlos Romero buried his fifth goal on the year to put the game out of reach in the 36th minute.
This week is going to be a big test for head coach
Tommy Mattera and the Dolphins, as they take on nationally ranked NYU on Tuesday and then host Farmingdale State this coming Saturday.
