PA - The men’s lacrosse team traveled to Pennsylvania on Saturday afternoon looking to continue their hot start and move to 2-0 for the first time since 2014. After a defensive battle the Dolphins did just that capturing the victory 6-4.
The first half was an extremely low scoring affair. The Dolphins got on the board early in the first quarter thanks to Giovanni Jean-Pharuns who scored his first collegiate goal to put the Dolphins ahead 1-0, But this would be the only offense in the first half. On the Defensive end it was goalkeeper Christian Brody, as well as defensemen Nick Distefano and Patrick Gazillo getting it done to hold the Ravens scoreless and help take a 1-0 lead into halftime.
The Dolphins seemed to find their groove early in the second half has they netted two goals in the first three minutes of the second half thanks to Vincent Colombino and Patrick Nagy. The Ravens would answer back scoring two goals of their own shrinking the lead back to one heading into the final quarter. From here the teams would trade goals over the next six minutes resulting in the Dolphins leading 5-4 with just seven minutes to play. Nagy would then deal the finishing blow as he finished his third goal of the day with just 52 seconds on the clock to lock up the teams second straight win. Senior Jakob Cala propelled the Dolphins to victory as he dominated at the face off X going 9-13 and scooping up three ground balls. Cala’s Classmate Nana-Kofi Agyekum was all over the field picking up five ground balls and causing four turnovers.
The Men now sit at an overall record of 2-0 for the first time in six years. They will be looking to continue their hot start to the season as they travel to La Plume, PA to take on Keystone College next Saturday.
