Purchase, NY - The University of Mount Saint Vincent made their first ever appearance in the Skyline Conference Championship Tournament, challenging Manhattanville after suffering an 8-6 loss earlier this season. It was once again a back and forth affair, but the Dolphins dropped a hard-fought 12-11 contest.
The loss ended UMSV's overall successful 2026 campaign.
After falling behind by five goals early, the Dolphins closed the first quarter with momentum as Mattias Remes and Sam Hall scored back-to-back unassisted goals. UMSV continued that push in the second quarter, with Nigel Walker, Isaac Parsons, and Jaylin Johnson all finding the net to bring the Dolphins within one.
In the third quarter, Chai Dunlap opened the scoring for UMSV off an assist from Hall, followed by another goal from Remes. The freshman later his third of the game to keep the Dolphins within striking distance.
The Dolphins made a strong fourth quarter push, as Parsons and Logan Charboneau connected on back-to-back goals to cut the deficit to one. Remes then capped off his standout performance with his fourth goal of the game, assisted by Walker, but UMSV ultimately fell just short.
Remes led the way with four goals, while Parsons added two goals and an assist. Hall contributed a goal and two assists, and Walker chipped in a goal and an assist as well.
Alfred Lamptey has arguably his best game of his career with the lights shining the brightest. The junior gave the Dolphins possession time after time, going 25-for-26 on the face-off dot. He also led the way with a game-best 23 ground balls.
Sophomore Max Mills had another strong day in net, recording 12 saves in the defeat. Both Harrison Chapman and Brandon Mestres tied for the team lead with two caused turnovers.
The loss will sting in the immediate future, but the distant future has never been brighter for the men's lacrosse program at UMSV. The team will look to retool in the offseason and make another push for the playoffs in 2027.
