Wilkes-Barre, PA - The Dolphins were back on the road on Saturday morning, as the College of Mount Saint Vincent's men's volleyball team competed in a tri-match in Pennsylvania against Wilkes University and The Sage Colleges, CMSV entered the matches with an 0-6 mark but were looking to keep the momentum going after their strong game against CCNY on their home court earlier this week.
In the Dolphins' first game of the afternoon, they dropped three consecutive sets to Wilkes by the scores of 25-10, 25-22 and 25-12. Freshman
Terence Strehle continued his strong start to his collegiate career, as he paced his team with five kills while also adding a block, good for six points. His classmate
Samuel Martinez wasn't far behind him with two kills of his own while junior standout
Jose Estrella added a kills and two blocks of his own. Senior
Padelis Astrinidis led all Dolphins with nine assists, seven digs and an ace.
Unfortunately for CMSV, their struggles continued into match two as they lost in straight sets to Sage (25-11, 25-11, 25-16). It was once again Strehle who impressed with a team-high three kills and eight digs while Estrella and
Felix Paulino tied for two kills of their own. Estrella added three blocks to the stat sheet while Paulino aided in his team's efforts with four digs, two aces and a block. Astrinidis once again led all Dolphins with eight assists.
With this tri-match in the rearview mirror, CMSV will now set their sights on Medgar Evers, who they'll take on this Tuesday in Brooklyn.
