Centenary, NJ - The College of Mount Saint Vincent's women's lacrosse team was on the road for their third consecutive game and were looking to pick up where they left off in Pennsylvania when they defeated Wilkes University by six goals. The Dolphins did exactly that, dominating the Cyclones by the score of 20-2.
It was clear from the start of the game that CMSV had the edge, as they opened the game by scoring eight straight goals within the first 30 minutes of the first half. Freshman standout
Colleen MacNeil continued the strong start to her collegiate career when she potted the first goal of the game.
Paulina Mandujano,
Marisa Misuraca,
Emma Dell'Aquila and
Caitlin Elia all scored throughout that span as well. Before the half was completed,
Morgan Pavlik and
Shannon Dalton also converted shot attempts.
The Dolphins' dominance continued into the second half/. After Centenary put the first tally on the board, CMSV once again went on a hot streak, scoring eight straight goals once again to close out the contest. Over that span,
Veronica Sevivas also joined the scoring party.
The senior Mandujano led the way for the Dolphins, registering team-highs in goals (four) and ground balls (four). Dell'Aquila dominated with a six point performance (three goals, three helpers) while MacNeil and Misuraca each had a hat trick. MacNeil also paced the Dolphins in caused turnovers and draw controls. Goaltender
Allyson Weakliem made four saves.
The Dolphins, now 2-1 on the year, will look to keep their winning streak intact a week from today when they head upstate to take on SUNY Plattsburgh.
