Plattsburgh, NY- The Women's Lacrosse team headed north to take on the Plattsburgh Cardinals in non-conference action. After an extremely tight contest the Dolphins would lose a heartbreaker 12-11.
From the very first faceoff on Saturday afternoon it was clear the game would be coming down to the wire. That is just what happened, the whole first half was a back and fourth affair that saw both teams trading goals through out. For the Dolphins it was Freshmen
Colleen MacNeil getting it done with three first half goals, Paulana Mandujano,
Sophia Raccolin and
Morgan Pavlik would also find the back of the net for the Dolphins which led to a 6-6 tie heading into the break.
The Second half was more of the same as the teams would continue to battle, neither team willing to give an inch. The Dolphins would take their first lead of the afternoon with just six minutes to play as
Shannon Dalton found the back of the net off the feed from Â
Emma Dell'Aquila. The Cardinals would answer back with two in the final two minutes of play, the last goal coming with just 28 seconds on the clock. Those two goals would seal the victory for Plattsburgh. Despite the tough loss the Dolphins certainly have a bright season in front of them. MacNeil would finish with one of the most impressive stat lines you will see in Lacrosse. The freshmen had five goals on seven shots, eight ground balls, six caused turnovers and 12 draw controls.
The Women now sit at an overall record of 2-2, after a few days rest the Dolphins will be back in action at Ramapo College looking to avenge their loss from a season ago.
