Riverdale, NY - The College of Mount Saint Vincent's men's volleyball team was back on the Peter Jay Sharp Center court for the second time this season. King's College came to town from Pennsylvania, with the Dolphins looking to pick up their first win of the 2020 season.
The Dolphins started off strong when they got the first point of the set to go up 1-0. From there, however, the Monarchs went on a tear, scoring four straight points before CMSV could get back on the board. Unfortunately, the Dolphins' points were few and far between in the first set, losing by the score of 25-6.
The second set started out better for the home town. Both the Dolphins and Monarchs traded points in the early going, with the score being 5-3 in favor of King's College after the first eight serves. From there, the set looked similar to the first. The Monarchs would rattle off 10 of the next 12 points. Freshman Felix Paulino would then register kills in three consecutive sets but King's would once again emerge victorious, this time by the score of 25-13.
Like the first two, the early action was close. The Dolphins kept pace with the Monarchs through 14 serves, with the game 8-6 in favor of King's at that mark. But it was the Monarchs who once again came out on top to sweep the match.
Paulino led the way with 7.5 points for the Dolphins, which included seven kills. Freshman Terence Strehle and senior Padelis Astrinidis had five apiece. Miguel Losa impressed with 18 assists.
The Dolphins will look for their first win on Saturday when they play host to York College. The match is set for a 12:00 PM start time.
