Old Westbury, NY - The College of Mount Saint Vincent's women's basketball was on the road for the first time in three games when they took a road trip to Long Island to play Old Westbury. Winners of their previous three games, the Dolphins were looking to continue their hot play right in time for the playoffs.
Fortunately for
Phil Stern and his squad, the winning ways continued for the Dolphins. While the team shot just 39% from the floor and 35% from three point territory, it was their defense that was the deciding factor. CMSV held the Panthers to just 14 points in both the first and third quarters while forcing Old Westbury to turn the ball over 16 times.
DarNeisha Brice returned to the starting lineup and looked like her old self as she scored a team-best 22 points while also impressing with nine rebounds and seven assists.
Kira Villegas recorded a career-high 20 points on eight of 17 shooting, including going four of six from beyond the arc.
Aria Rheams recorded her fifth double double with 15 points and 13 boards while
Victoria Hanley stuffed the stat sheet with 13 rebounds, nine points, six assists and a steal.
Now 11-7 in Skyline Conference play, the Dolphins are playing their hottest brand of basketball at the most opportune time. They'll look to keep this pace up when they see the Bears of St. Joesph's College - Brooklyn come to Riverdale on Tuesday.
