Riverdale, NY - The Men's Soccer team was back in action on Saturday afternoon after a tough season opener on Friday. Despite a strong start the Men would fall to Rutgers-Camden 5-1. CMSV showed fight against the NJAC powerhouse.
The Dolphins were neck and neck with Rutgers-Camden through the first 20 minutes of play. Rutgers would get on the board in just the sixth minute of the game but CMSV did not back down. Freshmen
Sory Konate would answer the call as he buried his first collegiate goal in the 15
th minute to tie things up at one. The Dolphins defense tightened up but in the 24
th and 31
st minute Rutgers capitalized on a rare error by the Dolphins back line. CMSV would head into the break trailing 3-1.
The Men would create multiple opportunities in the second half but were unable to break through the Rutgers-Camden defense who did not allow a goal in their first game of the season against a very talented Carthage team. The Dolphins would give up two more goals in the second half, Goalie
Padelis Astrinidis did all he could in net as he made 11 saves on the afternoon. Although the score seems lopsided the young Dolphins team is growing up quick and big things are ahead for this squad.
The Men will be back in action this Friday as they take on another very talented Penn-state Behrend squad at Valhalla High school at 7PM. CMSV now sits at an overall record of 0-2 and are hungry for their first win of the season.
