Yonkers, NY - The College of Mount Saint Vincent's men's soccer team to a quick road trip to neighboring Yonkers as they were set to open Skyline Conference competition on Wednesday evening against Sarah Lawrence College. Unfortunately, things didn't go as planned for
Kyle Hagenburger and the Dolphins, as CMSV fell by just one goal, with the final tally registering as 1-0.
The Dolphins' offense was firing on all cylindars throughout the 90 minutes of play, as they out-shot the Gryphons 19-6, including edging out Sarah Lawrence in shots on goal by 12. Freshman standout
Sory Konate accounted for seven total shots (six on goal) while
Adam Maryniewski,
Luciano Cirelli,
Antonio Padilla,
Augustine Ameruso,
Derrick Cordova Jonathan Guytan had at least one apiece.
The defense, too, was stout, as Cirelli, Padilla, Guytan,
Khari Greene,
Lizardo Tamaura and goalkeeper
Padelis Astrinidis did their best to stifle the Gryphons offense. The Gryphons, however, converted on their lone shot on goal when a header off a free kick resulted in the lone goal of the contest.Â
Despite the loss, the Dolphins will look to quickly regroup as their next contest is scheduled for this upcoming Saturday at Purchase College. Â
