Box Score Purchase, NY – The Men's Soccer team traveled up to Purchase College this Saturday to take on the Panthers in Skyline Conference action. After a tough loss against Sarah Lawrence earlier in the week the Men were looking to secure their first Skyline Conference victory of the year. After a hard fought battle CMSV fell to the Panthers 1-0.
The first half possession was dominated by the Panthers resulting in them outshooting the Dolphins 11-2. Despite the shot difference the Dolphin's Goalkeeper
Padelis Astrinidis would stand strong turning away four shots in the opening frame. The Panthers would finally break through as they drew a penalty kick in the 25
th minute and took a 1-0 lead. Over the next 20 minutes the score would hold and CMSV would head into the break trailing by one.
The second half would see much of the same action as the Panthers would continue to keep the ball in their attacking end and apply pressure throughout the entire second half. The Dolphins defense of
Luciano Cirelli,
Khari Greene and Astrinidis would continue to fight and shutout the Panthers in the second half, Astrindis would tally eight saves on the afternoon. Despite the strong defensive effort CMSV could not get anything going on the offensive end and would fall short 1-0.
The Men now sit at an overall record of 1-7 and a Skyline Conference record of 0-2. CMSV will have two days off before taking on another Skyline Conference rival in SUNY Maritime on Tuesday October 1
