Maloney Sets Record, Dolphins Go 3-3 Over Weekend

The Mount Saint Vincent Women's Volleyball team had an extremely busy weekend playing six matches in just three days. The Dolphins would take home three wins on the weekend. After the long weekend there was a new name on top of the kills leaderboard. Senior Skyline Conference Player of the Year Tara Maloney would write her name in the record books as she surpassed Ashleigh Scozzari on the all-time kills list in school history. Scozzari who was a 2015 graduate held the record for four years with 1,245 kills. Maloney broke the record in the fourth set against Haverford when she registered her 11th kill of the match to register her 1,246th kill of her career.  After the weekend Maloney sits at an impressive 1,258 kills with a whole season in front of her.

The Dolphins traveled to Muhlenberg to start their long weekend at the Buttermaker tournament. CMSV would open up the weekend against the host Mules on Friday, after three tough sets the Women walked away with their second loss of the season (25-10,25-20,25-8). CMSV would bounce back in their second match on Friday night as they defeated Penn-State Abington in four sets (27-25, 18-25, 25-18, 25-15). The Dolphins would continue to play against top level competition on Saturday as they took on Haverford and Eastern. CMSV would drop both contests, falling to Haverford in four sets and to Eastern in three. Samantha Schroeder was honored with all-tournament team as she registered 25 kills on the weekend. Maloney led the team in the Buttermaker tournament with 46 kills in their four matches while also contributing on the defensive end with 46 digs.

To wrap up the weekend the Dolphins came back to NYC to take on Yeshiva University and Copper Union in a Sunday tri-match. CMSV would win both matches in three straight sets. Alexandra Madden would lead the team with 15 kills on the day. Lindsay DeBoer would continue her great serving on the season as she registered 10 service aces against Copper Union, DeBoer leads the team with 19 aces on the season.

CMSV now sits at an overall record of 6-4 and a conference record of 1-0. The Dolphins will be back in action Wednesday night as they travel to NYU at 7PM for non-conference action.
