Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Dolphins Lose Heartbreaker At NJCU

Jersey City, NJ - The Men's Soccer team took the field on Monday afternoon looking to find their winning ways after a tough loss at home on Saturday. After 93 minutes of play CMSV would suffer heartbreak as they would lose on a golden goal just three minutes into overtime.

CMSV would find themselves in a hole early against NJCU trailing 2-0 after the first 20 minutes of play. The defense would shake off their slow start and begin playing great team defense to hold the Gothic Knights scoreless over the next 73 minutes. In this time frame the Dolphins offense came to life answering the Gothic Knights two goals with two of their own. The first CMSV goal would come off a cross from Sory Konate that would get deflected in off a Gothic Knight defender in the 69th minute Derrick Cordova caused the pressure on the defender that ultimately led to the goal. Now with all the momentum they needed the Dolphins offense would continue to put pressure on. Finally, in the 87th minute after drawing a corner CMSV would tie the match up at two as Luke St. Denis found a cutting Khari Greene who headed home his first collegiate goal. The match would head into overtime, despite coming all the way back NJCU would find the back of the net in third minute of overtime to come away with the 3-2 victory.

CMSV now sits at an overall record of 1-5 after back to back heartbreakers. The Dolphins will be back in action next Wednesday when they take on Sarah Lawrence at 7PM in their first conference match of the season.
