Riverdale, NY - The College of Mount Saint Vincent's women's soccer team took a mid-week road trip to Jersey City to take on the NJCU Gothic Knights. An early deficit ultimately resulted in the loss, as the Dolphins fell by the score of 5-2. The team now sits at 2-1-1 four games into the season.
NJCU dominated the first 45 minutes of play, burying four goals against standout first-year goaltender
Kora-Lynn McCullough. The momentum carried early on into the second half when the Gotham Knights converted on yet another shot, extending their lead to five.
The Dolphins, however, wouldn't go down without a fight. Freshman
Lilli Marin scored the first goal of her collegiate career when she recovered a loose ball after a failed clear attempt. Senior leader
Paulina Mandujano buried a free kick from the left wing to cut NJCU's lead to three.
Despite the loss, the Dolphins have looked impressive early on in the year. They'll return to Marillac Field on Saturday when they play host to Gwynned Mercy University at 1:00 PM.
