Riverdale, NY - The College of Mount Saint Vincent's women's soccer team competed in the first game of a double header and set the tone early for the Mount. The Dolphins had no issue over the 90 minutes of competition, as they scored two goals each half, resulting in a 4-0 shutout.
Within just 11 minutes of play, the home team took the lead and never looked back. Freshman
Caitlin May opened up the scoring drive with header in the second minute off an assist from
Grace Barry off a corner kick. The offense continued later into the half when senior
Jenna McDonnell put one passed the opposition off a pass from
Madison Schultz.
The outpouring continued over the final 45 minutes of play, as the Dolphins potted two more goals. The third score came off the foot of sophomore
Kacey Brown, who dribbled into the inside of the box and buried the top left corner.
Hannah Eschmann completed the game off another assist from Barry. Goaltender
Kora-Lynn McCullough had a terrific performance in net, as she posted her second shutout of the season.
Now at 3-1-1, the Dolphins will turn their attention to SUNY New Paltz, where they'll get their last tuneup game on September 21 before Skyline Conference play opens later that week.
