Riverdale, NY - The College of Mount Saint Vincent's men's soccer team earned their first win of the 2019 season, and the highly-touted freshmen class was on full display in the victory.
The Dolphins traveled to Morristown, New Jersey and took on the College of Saint Elizabeth Eagles, who entered play with one win in three tries this year. From the first whistle onward, CMSV dominated the competition, with all six goals scored over the first 45 minutes of play. By the 16th minute, the first-year duo of
Adam Maryniewski and
Mauricio Ricalde gave their club the two goal edge when they both scored the first goals of their collegiate careers.
But it was classmate
Santiago Ferrer who stole the show. The Tijuana, Mexico native buried three consecutive shots against the Eagles, securing both first goal of his career as well as his first hat trick. Senior
Augustine Ameruso put the cherry on top when he scored 31st minute, which gave CMSV a six goal lead before halftime.
The defense of
Luciano Cirelli,
Khari Greene,
Jonathan Gaytan and goaltender
Padelis Astrinidis all played a big part in shutting out CSE's offense.
The Dolphins will return to action this coming Saturday when they play host to the College of New Jersey at 3:30 PM on Marillac Field.
