Riverdale,NY - After splitting last week against Albertus Magnus and Purchase College the Men's lacrosse team was looking to end their last week of the season on a high note. Today they faced off with non-conference foe Delhi, after a hard fought battle The Dolphins fell 14-7. Although CMSV lost
Patrick Nagy made history in the process breaking the single season goals record . Nagy now sits at 49 goals on the season.
The offenses for both teams got going rather quickly this afternoon as the Broncos would strike just 30 seconds into the contest. But the Dolphins would have an answer as Jarrett Mclean found a cutting Nagy who would bury his first goal of the afternoon. A 4-0 Bronco run would ensue after Nagy's strike to give them a 5-1 lead.
Matthew Pincus would answer the call and stop the bleeding as he played finisher this time off the McLean feed. Delhi would add two more goals one with just seconds remaining in the half to take a 7-2 lead into the break. Defensively freshmen
Anthony Manna and freshmen counterpart
Kyle McGovern played great one on one lacrosse in the first half combining to cause a handful of turnovers. Christrian Brody as he has done all season impressed in the cage making multiple door step saves to keep them in the contest.
Delhi would throw the first punch in the second half as they scored right off the opening faceoff to extend their lead to six. The freshmen connection of Pincus and Nagy would combine for the next two goals as Pincus would find a cutting Nagy on back to back to possessions and cut the Bronco lead to just four. Delhi would get one back to push the lead to five but after this
Anthony Pedatella drew a penalty and would let the Dolphins dangerous man up take the field. As CMSV has done all year they turned to Nagy and he delivered off another McLean feed to cut the deficit back to four. This Man-up goal would be Nagy's tenth of the season which put him at the top off the record books yet again for most man up goals in a season. Delhi would gain some control as they netted four straight goals to jump out to a 13-5 lead, Nagy would stop the bleeding to score his record breaking 49th goal of the year. The very next possession Nagy would play feeder and find
Jaiden Martinez who would cut the lead to six. This is as close as the Dolphins would get and end up falling 14-7. On the Defensive end Brody would finish with another twenty save game, McGovern would finish the day with two caused turnovers and two groundballs.
