Game Recap: Softball |

Softball Sweeps First Conference Double Header Against Panthers

Purchase, NY - After a ton of conference cancellations the Softball team finally got to play against conference competition. The Women came ready to play and dominated the double header winning the first contest 11-3 and the second 4-0. CMSV now sits at an overall record of 5-9 and a conference record of 2-0.

In the first game of the double Header the Dolphins bats were hot from the start. Jumping out to a nice 5-0 lead after the first inning. Taylor Milata, Deanna Nardi each had two RBI in the first while teammate Alanna Alioto-Reyes drove in one run of her own. The offense would not stop after the first, CMSV would score three runs in each of the next two innings to put the game out of reach. Nardi would continue her strong game at the plate as she drove in two more runs in the second inning to get to four RBI on the day. Taylor Wittick, Katie Moos and Sophia Herrera would all get in on the action and drive in a run. Hannah Thompson continued her fantastic season on the mound pitching a complete game, striking out five and only allowing three earned runs.

The Second game of the day was all about Kayla Pagano as she pitched a complete game shutout only allowing five hits through seven innings while striking out five. The Dolphins on the offensive end struck early and gave Pagano a two run lead to work with right in the first inning. Alicia Blevins and Herrera would each drive in runs in the first inning giving the Dolphins a 2-0 lead. Thanks to Pagano's fantastic outing this would be all the runs CMSV would need. But the bats got going again in the fourth inning as Breeze-Lyn Morita and Lakisha Camacho each drove in a run and extended their lead to 4-0 and creating some insurance. The Dolphins would cruise from here on out and earn the sweep.

Tomorrow's conference double header has been postponed till Monday due to impending weather. That game will now be played on Monday, CMSV will be traveling to Patchoughe to take on St. Joseph's Long Island and look to continue their strong play in conference.
