Softball Drops Two Tough Contests Verse Valiants

Purchase, NY - The Softball team traveled to Manhattanville on Tuesday to take on soon to be conference foe. The Dolphins competed hard all afternoon but fell short in both contests. In the first they fell 9-1 and in game number two they came up short 4-0.

In the first game of the day the Dolphins got on the board first when Alana Alioto-Reyes ripped a double and drove in senior Katie Moos. The Dolphins shut down the strong offense of the Valiants in the first inning and carried the lead into the second. The Valiants bats would come to life in the second as they piled on six runs in the inning. From here on out the Dolphins could not get much going on the offensive end despite having a runner on base in every inning. Manhattanville would add three runs in the final two innings and win the contest 9-1.

Game number two did not start as the Dolphins would have hoped as Manhattanville started off with two run homerun in the first inning followed by a solo homerun to take a 3-0 lead. After this pitcher Hanna Thompson locked in and held the #12 team in the country scoreless through the next three innings of play. Despite the impressive outing from Thompson the Valiants would hold the powerful offense of the Dolphins at bay. Manhattanville would add one more run in the fifth to extend their lead to four. CMSV would threaten in the sixth thanks to two singles one from Moos and another from Taylor Milata, but even with runners on first and third the Valiants got themselves out of the Jam and maintained the lead. CMSV would eventually fall 4-0.

The softball team gets right back in action tomorrow as they travel to Madison,NJ to take on FDU-Florham. The Women will look to bounce back and get hot heading into the heart of conference play.
