Yonkers, NY - The men's lacrosse team had their home opener on a chilly rainy March night. CMSV was looking to get back to their winning ways against the Fighting Tigers of SUNY Cobleskill. A tough first quarter, however, doomed the Dolphins, as they fell 11-6.
The game did not start as CMSV would have liked for their home opener. The Fighting Tigers came out ready to play and brought it to the Dolphins, as they jumped out to a 8-1 lead at the end of one. A Nana Kofi-Ageykum goal was the only offense for CMSV in the opening frame. The Dolphins would settle down in the second quarter, only allowing two goals. The great defensive quarter was thanks to junior captain Christian Brody, who made 10 saves in the frame. The Dolphins would add another goal in the second from freshman Patrick Nagy.
The second half began as a defensive stalemate, with neither side registering a goal in the third quarter. Defensively, the Dolphins continued to be led by Brody and Nick DiStefano, who had five caused turnovers and eight ground balls on the day. After the quiet third quarter, the Dolphins offense finally arrived, scoring four goals in the final frame and only allowing one. CMSV got three goals from Nagy and one from Matthew Pincus. It was too little too late, however, as the Dolphins would end up falling 11-6. Brody registered yet another 20-save game with 21 on the afternoon.Â
The Dolphins will need short term memory as they get right back to action this Saturday. CMSV will be hosting Mitchell College at Gaelic Park at 5:00 PM. CMSV now sits at an overall record of 1-4.
