Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

Dolphins Win First Game Of Season Over Centenary

Hackettstown, NJ - After falling to 0-2 on the season after a loss to Wilkes University, the College of Mount Saint Vincent's men's lacrosse team traveled to New Jersey to take on Centenary University with the hopes of getting their first win of the season. The Dolphins did just that, as they went on to defeat a tough Cyclones team by the score of 9-5.

After a defensive battle in the early minutes, freshman and former Skyline Conference Rookie of the Week Patrick Nagy continued his hot start to the season when he picked up the first two goals of the game in the span of a little over a minute to give the Dolphins a two goal edge. After the Cyclones were able to get within one, it was another former Conference Rookie of the Week's turn to get on the board, as Matthew Pincus netted his second goal of the season, once again giving the Dolphins a lead by two. The second quarter featured more of an offensive affair, with four more shots getting past the starting goaltenders. Fortunately for the Dolphins, two of those came from Nagy, giving CMSV 5-3 lead going into halftime.

CMSV's offense picked up right where it left off, as junior Nana-Kofi Agyekum scored his first goal of the season just four minutes into the half. Once again it was Nagy who netted yet another goal off a Jaiden Martinez pass, giving his team a four goal edge. Both Pincus and Anthony Pedatella potted one goal apiece in the final quarter, helping the Dolphins secure the victory. On the defensive end, the trio of Nick DiStefano, Frank Stefko and Kyle McGovern had a strong outing in front of goalie Christian Brody, who saved an impressive 22 shots on goal. Outside of his assist, Martinez also paced the Dolphins in both ground balls (seven) and caused turnovers (two).

CMSV will look to keep the momentum going in Pennsylvania when they travel to Aston to take on Neumann University. Face-off is scheduled for 1 PM.
