Late Inning Comeback Puts Immaculata Over Dolphins

Clermont, FL - After an impressive 13-5 over DelVal to open their Spring Break trip in Florida, CMSV's baseball team returned to action on Tuesday afternoon when they took on Immaculata University. Unlike game one, the Dolphins struggled, with a late-inning comeback by the Mighty Macs being the deciding factor in the 11-6 loss.

It was once again a fast start for the Dolphins, as they scored three runs over the first three innings of play. To open the contest, junior Anthony Nocero singled home Jake Blinstrub in the first to give the Dolphins an early 1-0 advantage. After Nocero scored on a passed ball later in the first, CMSV once again got into the run column in the third when sophomore Matt DiNorcia singled in Jake Blinstrub to give his team a three run lead. Despite Immaculata getting on the board with two runs in the bottom of the third, DiNorcia once again responded with a two-run double to extend CMSV's lead to three.

After that, however, the Dolphins' success would fall short. The Mighty Macs knotted the game up at five in the fifth and over the course of the next two innings ended up taking a four run lead to put the game out of reach. While CMSV got back on the board with a Michael Grisanti triple, it wasn't enough to overcome the late game comeback from Immaculata.

Pedro Fortoso made the start for the Dolphins and impressed, as he struck out four while giving up just two runs on three hits in four innings. DiNorcia was the star of the day on offense, adding two hits and three RBI to the stat sheet, while Blinstrub scored four runs of his own.

The Dolphins will need short term memory on their trip as they'll return to action Thursday morning against Gettysburg College. First pitch is scheduled for 10 AM.
