Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Dolphins Score Five In Season Opening Loss Against Ramapo

Mahwah, N.J. - The College of Mount Saint Vincent's women's lacrosse team opened their 2019 season on the road against Ramapo College on Monday afternoon. Despite a strong effort on both ends of the field for the Dolphins, the Roadrunners proved to be too strong to overcome, with the final score of 17-5 favoring the home team.

Throughout the first half of the game, the Dolphins battled mightily despite being outscored by their opponents by six goals. Paulina Mandujano converted the first goal of the season for CMSV, bringing her team within two. After Ramapo rattled off three straight points, it was Morgan Pavlik's turn to enter the stat sheet, as she scored her first goal as a member of CMSV's women's lacrosse team, which kept her team in the game. Sophomore standout Caitlin Elia added a third goal to the scoreboard off of a Emma Dell'Aquila helper just before the conclusion of the half, giving the Dolphins some momentum heading into the locker room.

Unfortunately for CMSV, the Roadrunners got seven shots past goaltender Allyson Weakliem before the Dolphins could convert, which put the game out of reach in the first 15 minutes of play. Elia scored another goal which was assisted by Pavlik while Shannon Dalton converted the final point of the day for her team. Elia, Pavlik, Dalton and Mandujano tied for a team lead with two ground balls apiece while Pavlik and Erin Bouvee caused two turnovers each. Weakliem finished her day with six saves.

With the season now in full swing, the Dolphins will look to get into the win column for the first time in 2019 when they travel to Connecticut to take on Albertus Magnus on March 14.
