Men's Lacrosse Struggles On Road Against Wilkes

Wilkes-Barre, PA - The men's lacrosse team traveled to Pennsylvania to face non-conference foe Wilkes University on Saturday afternoon. The men were looking to secure their first win of the 2019 season; but despite a great start, the Dolphins ultimately dropped the game by the score of 17-6 and fell to 0-2 on the year.

To start the game, the Dolphins were firing on all cylinders. The defense was flying around, frustrating the Wilkes offense in a major way. Sophomore Nick DiStefano forced two turnovers and was the anchor of the strong defensive effort. It took 11 minutes, but the Dolphins struck first to take a 1-0 lead on a Jaiden Martinez goal. Wilkes would not let the Dolphins hold the lead for long as they would answer with a 4-0 run to end the first quarter with a 4-1 lead. Wilkes continued their offensive tear in the second quarter and pushed their lead to 9-1. Christian Brody had a monster first half with 13 saves which kept the Dolphins in the game.

The second half started exactly the way the first half ended with Wilkes tallying five more goals before the Dolphins offense would get going. Patrick Nagy went on a quick 2-0 scoring run of his own in the middle of the third to close the gap to 14-3. From here on Wilkes and CMSV would each net three goals - the Dolphins would get two from senior Jarrett McLean, and freshmen Matthew Pincus registered his first collegiate goal. Defensively for the Dolphins, DiStefano and Brody shined. DiStefano finished with seven ground balls and two caused turnovers. Brody finished with an impressive 19 saves.

The Dolphins will need to have short term memory as they get right back on the field this Wednesday when they travel to New Jersey to take on Centenary.
