Riverdale, N.Y. – Just like the men's team, the College of Mount Saint Vincent's women's basketball program played in front of their home fans for the last time this season. After honoring senior
Yamilersy Reyes, the Dolphins took on Old Westbury in a crucial Skyline Conference matchup.
The first half was a slow one for the Dolphins, as they struggled on the offensive end. As a whole, the team shot just 30% from the floor while going just three for seven from the charity stripe. The Panthers, meanwhile, converted points at a 43% clip, besting CMSV by eight points by the end of the half.
Leah Pinili paced all Dolphins with 12 first half points while
Fatima Monsour came off the bench for a team-high six rebounds. Both Reyes and
Aria Rheams held their own on the offensive end, too, as they combined for 11 total points.
Unfortunately for the Dolphins, the slow first half continued into the third and fourth quarters. While their shooting slump was still apparent, CMSV also allowed Old Westbury to score 10 of 15 baskets in the third quarter, leading to a 73-62 loss. Rheams finished strong with a double double (15 points, 11 rebounds) while Pinili scored a career high 20 points.
With playoff hopes still alive, the Dolphins will look to return to the win column on Tuesday when they take on the Farmingdale State Rams.
