Riverdale, N.Y. – The men's basketball team of the College of Mount Saint Vincent came back to the Peter Jay Sharp Center on Tuesday for their quest to continue their winning ways after snapping their six game losing streak on Saturday against St. Joseph's College Long Island.
The first half was a familiar one for the Dolphins, as they struggled to get into an offensive rhythm against the 7-13 Mariners. Outside of the duo of
Raiquis Harris and
Jason Barrera, who combined for 12 points, CMSV struggled to get their shots to drop. As a whole, the Dolphins shot just 21% from the floor while missing all 10 shots from beyond the three-point line. Fortunately for the Dolphins, USMMA too struggled to get things going, which led to a low scoring, 10-point disadvantage heading into halftime.
Unfortunately for the Dolphins, their struggles on the offensive end of the game continued in the second half, as the team as a whole shot a disappointing 29%. Despite the shortcomings, freshman
Kalos Evans came off the bench and provided a spark, scoring 11 points in 22 minutes of play. Barrera recorded yet another double double on the season with 11 points and 10 boards while Harris led the team in both points (13), assists (four) and steals (seven).
The loss puts CMSV at 6-16 on the season while going just 5-12 against Skyline Conference competition. They'll look to be victorious in their final home game of the season against Old Westbury on Saturday.
