Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Dolphins Victorious In Final Home Game Of Season

Riverdale, N.Y. – The College of Mount Saint Vincent's men's basketball team came out on their home court for the last in the 2018-19 season with the hopes of salvaging their season with a victory in the Peter Jay Sharp Center. The Dolphins took on Old Westbury, the current number three seed in the Skyline Conference playoff seeding, so the task was tall.

Despite the difference in record between both teams, the competition was kept close throughout the first half. In the early going, defense was the name of the game, as both the Dolphins and Panthers failed to reach double digits on the scoreboard until the 10 minute mark. In what has been a theme all year long, Raiquis Harris was a constant on the offensive end, going five of nine from the field, good for 11 points. Freshman guard Kalos Evans came off the bench and scored six points while Vinny Tavella and Jason Barrera combined for seven points of their own. Barrera was also a force on the boards as he pulled down eight rebounds over the first 20 minutes of play while Makai Johnson nabbed two steals.

From the start of the second half until the final whistle, the game was as closely contested as the first half. After Tavella hit his third three pointer to give the Dolphins a three-point lead, Barrera's layup with seconds to spare gave the Dolphins the lead for good. Barrera finished his final home game with a monster double double of 15 points and 14 rebounds while Harris finished with 13 points, eight rebounds and four assists. Evans finished the game off the bench with 11 points while Tavella's 60% three-point percentage put CMSV over the top. Mamadou Mariko contributed on the boards as well with 10 rebounds of his own.

While the playoffs are out of the picture for the Dolphins, they will look to create a winning streak on the road. CMSV will travel to Farmingdale to take on the Rams on Tuesday.
