Patchouge, NY - The Men's Basketball team traveled to skyline conference foe St. Joseph's Long Island in hopes of avenging their early season loss to them as well as snapping their current six game losing streak. That is just what the Dolphins did with 72-65 victory.
The first half was a typical Skyline Conference matchup, both teams playing hard and attempting to keep their playoff hopes alive. The Dolphins only trailed one time on the afternoon and that was just four minutes into the game. From that point on CMSV locked in defensively and would not be denied from securing a huge road win. Junior David Collins had a monster first half for the Dolphins with 9 boards and 8 points. Collins set the tone in the paint which CMSV dominated all day long. Freshmen Josh Pismeny had his best shooting day of his young career knocking down two first half threes. CMSV took a 32-28 lead into the break.Â
Second half defense was the focal point for the Dolphins as it showed holding a great shooting team to 30% from the field and 27% from beyond the arc. This energy was contagious and the whole team was locked in. The uptempo defense got to The Golden Eagles and had them exhausted when it was their turn to play defense which lead to 38 points in the paint for the Dolphins. Collins and Pismeny continued their big days as they finished with 16 and 15 points respectively. Collins added ten rebounds and recorded his first career double-double. The two led the Dolphins to their 72-65 victory.Â
The Men will be back at home this Wednesday February 6th when they take on the Merchant Marine Academy. They will be looking for their second consecutive victory and to keep their playoff hopes alive. CMSV is now sporting an overall record of 6-15 and a Skyline Conference record of 5-11.Â
