Riverdale, NY - The College of Mount Saint Vincent's women's basketball team returned to their home court for the second straight game, this time taking on Farmingdale State College in a Saturday morning matchup. The Dolphins set out a mission to win their third straight Skyline Conference matchup and did just that when they defeated the Rams by the score of — to —.Â
The first quarter started off as well as head coach Phil Stern could hope, as the Dolphins went on a 14-0 run to start the game. The defense, too, held strong, as the Dolphins allowed their first bucket of the game at the 4:10 mark. The Rams then found their groove on the offensive end, scoring eight straight points to close out the first 10 minutes of play.Â
The Dolphins once again dominated on offense, outscoring their opponents 19-3 throughout the entirety of the second quarter. The defense, too, impressive, as the home team accumulated four steals and nine caused turnovers with 17 points scored off turnovers in the process. Senior standout DarNeisha Brice paced all scorers with 17 total points, including going three of five from three. Classmate Dez Brown impressed on the  boards with six total rebounds in the first half. The Dolphins went into halftime with a 21-point lead.Â
The Rams' halftime plan was well executed, as the visitors exploded for 22 points in the third quarter while holding the Dolphins to just 11. That theme continued into the fourth quarter when Farmingdale State was able to keep climbing back and cut the Dolphins' lead to one possession with four minutes remaining in the contest. An Aria Rheams layup with 2:20 on the clock brought her team's lead to five, which was good enough to separate the two teams for good.Â
Brice led the way once again with 19 points, a game-high among all players while Brown notched her second straight double double with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Junior Aria Rheams also had an impressive morning, as she went 8-13 from the charity stripe and totaled 14 points and eight boards. Both Brice and Leah Pinili led the Dolphins in assists with three apiece and Gabby Goldman scored nine points, including two three pointers.Â
Now at 6-2 with a conference record of 4-1, CMSV will now turn their attention to non-conference action. They'll travel to Connecticut a week from today to take on Albertus Magnus College in an afternoon affair.Â
