Purchase, NY - The College of Mount Saint Vincent's men's soccer team traveled to Manhattanville College on Wednesday evening with the hopes that they could capture their first Skyline Conference win of 2019. The team put up one of its strongest efforts of the season but unfortunately came up short, as the Dolphins dropped the contest in double overtime by the score of 3-2.
CMSV was in control over in a major way over the first 45 minutes of play. In the 13th minute of action, freshman
Mauricio Ricalde continued his strong first year with the Dolphins as he buried a goal off a strong pass from classmate
Santiago Ferrer, giving their team the one goal edge. The Valiants responded in the 37th minute with a goal of their own, but the
Kyle Hagenburger-led team answered right back just seconds later when
Antonio Padilla put the ball past the night off an assist from
Jordan Burlingame, making the game 2-1.
Padelis Astrinidis saved all three shots taken on goal while the Dolphins defense stifled Manhattanville in the first half.
Unfortunately, it was the Valiants who would connect on two consecutive goals - one to tie the game in the 76th minute and a second to secure the victory in the second overtime.
Despite the strong effort, the Dolphins now sit at 1-10 on the season with a conference record of 0-5. CMSV will look to return to the win column on Saturday when they play host to the United States Merchant Marine Academy at 3 PM.
