Riverdale, NY- The Men's Soccer team was back at home after a heartbreaking loss to Manhattanville in the middle of the week. The Dolphins took on USMMA and were looking to bounce back in a big way. After an intense 110 minutes of play CMSV would come away with a tie against the conferences top team.
After a nice display of offense in the middle of the week, it was the Defense's turn to step up on Saturday and that is just what the Dolphins got. CMSV was led all afternoon by Junior
Luciano Cirelli, Freshmen
Anthony Lima and Senior
Padelis Astrinidis. Cirelli and Lima set the tone early with very physical play and let the Mariners know they were ready to go. This energy stayed high all game long as the Dolphins and Mariners battled for the full 110 minutes with no let up from either side. Astrinidis had one of his best games to date as he recorded 14 saves to earn the clean sheet. On the offensive end the Dolphins were inches away from coming away with a huge conference win. Freshmen standout
Mauricio Ricalde took a beautiful shot off a ball from
Sory Konate that was just barley saved off the backline by a Merchant Marine defender. That save would hold the score at 0-0 and that is were the game would end. An extremely hard fought draw that should provide CMSV with a ton of confidence heading into four straight home games.
The Men now sit at an overall record of 1-10-1 and a Skyline Conference record of 0-5-1. The Dolphins will be back in action this Tuesday when the Old Westbury Panthers come to town.
