Dolphins Top Privateers For First Conference Win

Riverdale, NY - The Dolphins took their home field for the first time in almost two weeks this afternoon. After four straight losses, CMSV was hungry to earn their first conference win. Thanks to a stout defensive effort the Dolphins did just that, shutting out the Privateers in route to a 1-0 victory.

The defense has been the Dolphin's strong suit all year long and they proved that yet again today. CMSV earned their third shutout of the season thanks to some impressive defense from Lauren Vetoulis, Alyssa Santeramo and goalie Kora Lynn-McCullough. From the very first whistle to the last the women were flying around the field making defensive stop after defensive stop. The impressive defense held the Privateers to only four shots on goal. Not only were the Dolphins great on the defensive end, they also controlled the midfield throughout the match thanks to Madison Schultz and her sophomore counterpart Cristina Britton.

The Dolphins controlled possession and broke through in the 26th minute when Kacey Brown found a streaking Schultz who buried her shot in the lower left corner. Once securing the 1-0 lead, the Dolphins never looked back. Despite the score, the performance today was truly dominating as CMSV out shot the visitors 37-8.

Now with their first Skyline Conference win under their belt, CMSV sits at an overall record of 4-5-1 and a Skyline record of 1-3. The women will look to continue their strong play when Old Westbury comes to town this Saturday.
