Riverdale, NY – The College of Mount Saint Vincent's women's soccer team played host to Old Westbury in the first game of a Dolphins' soccer double header on Saturday. The physical game didn't go in CMSV's favor, as the women dropped their matchup to the Panthers by the score of 2-0.
The first half was tightly contested throughout. The Dolphins' defense, led by
Lauren Vetoulis,
Alyssa Santeramo and
Grace Barry, limited Old Westbury to just seven shots. Freshman goaltender
Kora-Lynn McCullough turned away the two shots on goal she saw, keeping everything all even at zero going into halftime.
The final 45 minutes, however, was a different story. The offense of the Panthers were able to sneak two shots past McCullough in the 46
th and 56
th minutes of action to give their team the lead for good. Both
Kacey Brown and Christina Britton had terrific opportunities to convert but were stifled by Old Westbury.
The Dolphins are now 4-6-1 on the season with a 1-4 record against Conference competition. They'll look to rise up in the standings on October 16 when they host Purchase College.
