Riverdale, NY - The College of Mount Saint Vincent's women's soccer team traveled to Newburgh for a Skyline Conference matchup against Mount Saint Mary College of Saturday. While the team traveled with the hopes of getting their first conference win of the season, the Knights were too tough to overcome, as they won by the score of 4-1.
The game got off to a hot start for CMSV, as
Kacey Brown put her team on the board in the 6th minute of play after burying a free kick from
Madison Schultz, giving her three goals on the season while also leading her team to an early one goal edge. From there, however, it was all Mount Saint Mary, as they scored three consecutive goals before halftime to take the lead and never look back. The Knights added one more to the scoreboard before the final whistle was blown.
Freshman
Emily McCarthy led her team with three shots on goal while freshman goaltender
Kora-Lynn McCullough recorded nine saves on 13 shots.
The team will look to put the loss in the rearview mirror as they set their sights on a home matchup against Maritime on Tuesday. Start time is scheduled for 4:15 PM.
