Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Dolphins Keep Playoff Hopes Alive In Dominant Win Over Panthers

Purchase, NY - The College of Mount Saint Vincent's women's soccer team were set to host Purchase College on Monday afternoon, but due to field conditions, had to travel to Westchester to take on the Panthers in a night matchup. It didn't matter where this game was played because the Dolphins were ready to go and dominated the Skyline matchup, winning by the score of 3-0. The Dolphins improved to 6-7-2 on the season and have a conference record of 3-5-1.

The first half was largely dominated by the Dolphins, with Katie Gebhard's squad controlling possession for the majority of the 45 minute play period. CMSV's offense kept pressure on Purchase, as they 11 total shots before standout sophomore Cristina Britton found the back of the net off a pass from freshman Emily McCarthy in the 35th minute for the first goal of the contest. The defense, led by Alyssa Santeramo, Grace Barry, Julia Leggett and Paulina Mandujano, helped hold the Panthers to just five shots, with goaltender Kora-Lynn McCullough turning away every shot she faced.

The second half looked extremely similar to the first, as the Dolphins did their best to dominate the competition. Over the final 45 minutes of play, Britton scored her second goal of the game and sixth goal in 2019 with an assist credited to Grace Barry while Mandujano assisted McCarthy for the third and final goal of the game. McCullough recorded five saves in the shutout while Britton, McCarthy, Naomi Juvera and Hannah Eschmann combined for 21 of the team's 23 shots.

With the postseason very much in play, the Dolphins will look to take care of business on Wednesday when Yeshiva University comes to Riverdale. The game is scheduled to start at 4:00 PM.
