Patchogue, NY – The College of Mount Saint Vincent's women's soccer team went on a road trip to Long Island on Saturday to take on the Golden Eagles of St. Joseph's College-Long Island. Despite falling in an early hole, the Dolphins were able to knot things up at one, resulting in a tie game at the final whistle.
It was a defensive affair at the Danzi Stadium over the first 25 minutes of play, with freshman goaltender
Kora-Lynn McCullough playing strong in net while
Lauren Vetoulis,
Alyssa Santeramo,
Paulina Mandujano and Julia Legget helped stifle the Golden Eagles' offense. After St. Joe's scored in the 26
th minute of play, standout sophomore
Cristina Britton knotted things up before the half could conclude, scoring her team-high fourth goal of the season.
The second half mimicked what happened earlier in the game, as neither team scored in the final 45 minutes as well as two overtime periods. McCullough ended her day with eight saves while Britton led the way with four total shots and three shots on goal.
The Dolphins, who now sit at 5-7-2 with a conference record of 2-5-1, will have to rebound quickly, as they're scheduled to take on Purchase College on Monday at home.
