Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Dolphins Tie Golden Eagles, Eliminated From Playoff Contention

Riverdale, NY – Riverdale, NY – The College of Mount Saint Vincent's men's soccer team once again played on their home field, this time against St. Joseph's College-Long Island, in a battle to keep their playoff hopes alive. Despite an extremely valiant effort, the Dolphins ended a contest in a tie, thus ending their terrific run towards a playoff berth.

Both CMSV and St. Joe's Long Island went back and forth in their respective ends, with goaltender Padelis Astrinidis and defenders Anthony Lima, Antonio Padilla, Matthew Babcock and Khari Greene all playing a part in keeping the score at zero going into halftime.

That score wouldn't last very long as the striker duo of Sory Konate and Derrick Cordova working together to put the Dolphins on the board, with Cordova scoring his second of the 2019 season. But before time could expire in the second half, the Golden Eagles connected on an impressive bicycle kick to tie the game at one, which was the eventual final score. Astrinidis made five saves in the contest while freshman Adam Maryniewski stood out with four shots and three shots on goal.

Despite the tie, the Dolphins' string of competitive and impressive play continued on Saturday afternoon. They'll look to finish strong when they hit the road to take on Yeshiva University in their final contest of the season on Tuesday.
