Box Score Edgewater, NJ - The Dolphins headed to New Jersey to wrap up their 2019 season, after a hard fought battle the Dolphins would fall in the first overtime 2-1. The Dolphins end the season with an overall record of 4-11-2 and a Skyline Conference record of 3-6-2.
Yeshiva would strike first on the cold evening in the 22nd minute to take a 1-0 lead. The Dolphins would settle down and lock down defensively thanks to
Anthony Lima and
Khari Greene holding down the back line. CMSV would start to generate opportunities thanks to solid defensive play but were unable to find the back of the net in the opening frame. CMSV would continue their strong play in the second half and they would finally break through in the 66th minute as senior
Augustine Ameruso would find the back of the net off the pass from
Adam Maryniewski. CMSV would generate a handful of opportunities through the rest of regulation but could not score the game winner. To overtime we went and Yeshiva would strike just three minutes in to the first overtime and defeat the Dolphins 2-1.Â
Despite the season not going the way the Dolphin's had hoped, the future is extremely bright here in Riverdale.
Kyle Hagenburger,
Kushal Patel,
Ornette Sanchez,
Michael Pizzuti and
George Laing all did a terrific job this season with an extremely young core and will look to continue to grow this program. Although the Dolphin's lose
Padelis Astrinidis and Ameruso to graduation, the Dolphins will be fully loaded next season, returning their top seven scorers. On the defensive end the Dolphins return their whole back line in Lima, Greene and
Luke St. Denis. This is team you will want to come and watch next year. For now the Dolphins will head into the off season with their heads held high.
