Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Dolphins Fall To Valiants In Conference Action

Purchase, NY- The Women's soccer team headed to Manhatanville College to face off with the newest member of the Skyline Conference. The Dolphins were looking to secure their first conference win of 2019. After a hard fought battle CMSV fell short by the score of 3-1.

The Valiants would come out in the first half firing on all cylinders, taking 11 shots in the opening frame nine of which were on target. Manhattanville would strike just 10 minutes into the first half to take a 1-0 lead. The offensive pressure would continue through out the opening frame which resulted in the Valiants adding another goal in the 20th minute to extend their lead to 2-0. Thanks to fantastic goalkeeping from Kora-Lynn McCullough the Dolphins would remain within two goals heading into the half. The all-star freshmen keeper made 6 saves in first half to keep the Dolphins within striking distance.

Trailing 2-0 with 45 minutes to play the Dolphins knew they needed to get the offense going. It was time for somebody to step up and Cristina Britton answered the call. The first team all-conference honoree scored an ESPN top 10 worthy goal just 10 minutes into the second half. (Check it out on our instagram @ CMSVathletics) With the Dolphins now trailing by one they could taste the comeback win. The Dolphins defense would lock it down defensively over the next 30 minutes to give them every opportunity they needed to tie the game up. Unfortunately after multiple opportunities the offense could not find the back of the net. The Valiants offense would then break through again in the 85th minute to jump ahead by two goals, this would prove to be enough as they went on to win 3-1.

The women now sit at an overall record of 3-4-1 and have a Skyline Conference record of 0-2. The Dolphins will be right back in action this Saturday in Newburgh as they take on Mount Saint Mary at 1PM.
