Riverdale, NY - The College of Mount Saint Vincent's men's soccer team played home once again, this time in front of a big crowd on hand for Reunion and Homecoming Weekend, as they hosted St. Joseph's College-Brooklyn on Saturday afternoon. The Dolphins' continued their strong play, leading to a hard fought victory by the score of 4-2 over the Bears. This gives CMSV their second consecutive win against conference competition.
The Dolphins' offense held a strong possession to start the game, which led to the first goal of the contest in just the 10th minute after freshman
Antonio Padilla converted with a header off a strong corner kick from teammate
Anthony Lima. The offense continued to excel over the first 45 minutes of play, as freshman
Sory Konate buried a shot passed the Bears goaltender, extending CMSV's lead to two going into halftime. St. Joe's came out firing in the second when they scored twice in six minutes to begin the second half. But it wasn't long before the Dolphins regained the lead as Konate scored on a penalty shot to give his team the lead for good. An own goal from the Bears put CMSV by two goals, resulting in the victory.
Now with a conference record of 2-5-1, the Dolphins are slowly climbing up the standings with an outside chance of playoffs in sight. The team will return to the pitch on Wednesday when they'll play host to Farmingdale.
