Riverdale, N.Y. - The College of Mount Saint Vincent's men's basketball team took the court on January 8 looking to snap a four game losing streak. But a double overtime thriller went the other way and their losing streak grew to five games. The Farmingdale State Rams outlasted the Dolphins and provided heart-break on a cold January night by the score of 102-93.
 
The game was high-tempo from the opening tip, with both teams flying around and getting after each other. One of the first six technical of the night came just five minutes into play and the fans knew they would be in for a good one. The hard fought first half saw both teams trading buckets throughout its duration. The Dolphins turned to Jason Barrera in the first half for their scoring as the senior poured in 17 first half points with terrific three-point shooting. The Dolphins went into the break trailing 34-33.

The second half saw the same energy that a conference rivalry should have. Players from both squads battled out, with tonight's game having a playoff-type feel in early January. Nobody wanted to give in and it showed as the teams battled into double overtime. Star junior guard Raiqius Harris went to work in the second half and in both overtimes, earning every point he got. Harris had 15 in the second half and nine points collectively in both overtimes. Harris was not the only guard who was feeling it tonight, as freshmen Kalos Evans had 22 points on 5-7 shooting from beyond the arc. The trio of Barrera, Harris and Evans combined for 71 of the Dolphins 93 points this evening. The Dolphins led with 20 seconds left in the first overtime and had the taste of victory in their mouth but a Farmingdale bucket forced a second overtime. Farmingdale dominated the final overtime frame and walked away with a 102-93 victory.

The men's basketball team will look to finally end this slump as they head to cross town rival Maritime on Thursday January 10 at 7 PM. CMSV now sits at a overall record of 4-9 and a Skyline record of 3-5.
