Riverdale, N.Y. - The College of Mount Saint Vincent's men's basketball team returned to the court for the first time in five days to take on Skyline Conference powerhouse Yeshiva University.
The first half couldn't have gone much better for the Dolphins, as they kept the game close and entered halftime down nine points. Despite shooting a rough 25% from the floor while the Maccabees converted 56% of their shot attempts, it was CMSV going six for nine at the free throw line that kept the team within striking distance. Junior standout
Raiquis Harris led the way in the first 20 minutes of play, scoring eight points while grabbing five rebounds. The big man duo of
Claudio Nmezi and Vinney Tavella combined for eight points as well while freshman
Kalos Evans came off the bench and scored five points of his own.
Unfortunately for the Dolphins, their shooting struggles continued, making it hard to overcome the top-seeded Maccabees. Despite continuously cutting the lead to single digits, Yeshiva had an answer, thwarting every comeback attempt that came their way. Harris was the lone Dolphin to reach double figures, scoring 19 points on five of 15. Evans and
David Collins combined for 10 points off the bench while Harris also paced the team with seven rebounds.
CMSV now drops to 5-15 on the season, including a 4-11 mark against conference competition. They'll return to the court on February 2 and look to end their winning drought against St. Joseph's College Long Island.
